Skylite Skating Rink at 1509 Cajah Mountain Road, Hudson, North Carolina.

I wish I could give 5 stars, but I left with a bad taste in my mouth. I have been here on a Saturday afternoon in the past, and it was very enjoyable for myself and two young children.

Fast forward to last night, which was a Friday night. We pull into the parking lot and there aren't many cars, but inside the place is shoulder to shoulder full of middle school aged children (without any parents). Despite mine and my husband's initial instinct of turning around to leave, we laced up our skates and our children's skates.

It didn't take long for our experience to turn very sour, when it seemed as though the middle school aged children thought it was a game to be blatantly rude to others by knocking them over or just be completely obnoxious. I was trying to help my 5 year old skate, and one of the hooligans swept me completely off my feet and I fell square on my hand/bottom (now, I'm a fairly decent skater, mind you). I now fear I have a sprained wrist, with some serious swelling and bruising. I'm grateful it was me, and not my 5 year old.

We left after only skating for about 20-30 minutes only to be told by the cashier that it's always this crazy on Friday nights with the middle school kids. The kids are completely out of control, and it seems as though it's a chaotic middle school inconsiderate free for all.

I say all of this not to knock Skylite Skating Rink, but to inform those like myself what to expect on a Friday night. Had I known, I would have saved the $32 to go on a different day.
